Maier sworn-in as new Laketran trustee

Lake County, OH – At Laketran’s Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, March 23, 2015, Sonja M. Maier of Mentor was sworn-in for a three year term as Trustee after being appointed by Lake County Commissioners.  

Maier is a retired educator from Mentor Public Schools, where she taught elementary age students and students with disabilities throughout the district. She previously served on the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities and currently serves as trustee for Mentor Public Library and Deepwood Foundation Board.

As a mother of an autistic daughter, Maier brings her expertise of working with people with disabilities to assist them to become contributing members of the community.

“I am honored to have been appointed to the Laketran Board of Trustees because I want to give all individuals the ability to live lives of independence and to positively plan for future changes that may impact them.  I hope to help Laketran make decisions that can help people with disabilities achieve their life long goals and dreams,” shared Maier on her appointment.

“Sonja brings to us her expertise on serving people with disabilities and vast knowledge of Lake County from working on various public boards.  Laketran has always prioritized meeting the transportation needs of seniors and people with disabilities and Sonja will be great addition our team to make sure Laketran continues to make that happen,” said Brian Falkowski, board president.

Earlier this year, the Laketran board unanimously appointed Brian J. Falkowski as board president and Matthew Armand as vice president.  Falkowski replaced Kevin D. Malecek as president, who resigned to be sworn-in for his first term as Lake County Commissioner.
