Mentor resident Mary L. Bryner has been named the newest member of the Laketran Board of Trustees.
Bryner, who is also a Mentor School Board member, recently was appointed to a three-year term on the Laketran board by Lake County commissioners.
The commissioners also re-appointed Laketran Trustees Donna McNamee of Willoughby and Jean Argo of Madison to new three-year terms.
Bryner said she’s honored to join the Laketran trustee board and believes she’ll be a good addition to the panel.
“I have worked in the property and casualty insurance industry for over 20 years and while serving on the Mentor School Board, the school’s transportation department was recognized five years consecutively for efficiency,” Bryner said. “I hope to be able to share my expertise with Laketran so they continue to make a positive impact on the community, while continuing to operate conservatively.”
Bryner fills a seat on the nine-member Laketran trustee board vacated by Robert Roberti. A Painesville Township resident who serves as director of regulatory affairs for R.W. Sidley Inc., Roberti resigned from the board in April, said Julia Schick, Laketran’s director of marketing and public relations. Roberti, who had served on Laketran’s board since 2007, cited not having enough time because of other commitments as the reason for resigning, she said.
McNamee has served the Laketran board since 2001, while Argo has served since 2011.
Laketran Trustee Board Vice President Brian Falkowski said he’s pleased with the re-appointments of McNamee and Argo.
“Donna provides an elaborate history of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which keeps the board informed about federal mandates to adhere to when providing services to people with disabilities, while Jean is an expert in union and leadership management,” Falkowski said. “Jean also has a good pulse on what the community needs because of her work at United Way, such as being proactive to the needs of the senior community.”
McNamee and Argo were sworn in to new terms at Laketran’s May board meeting.
Bryner, meanwhile, will be sworn in at Laketran’s next public board meeting on July 29.
The Laketran Board of Trustees is responsible for the general oversight of the Lake County public transportation system, including the annual budget and fare structure.
