The Laketran Board of Trustees elected Kevin Malecek as President and John Redmond as Vice-President for the remainder of 2009. The special election was held at the May Board of Trustees meeting as the term for Terrell Dillard, who was serving as President, expired on May 15, 2009.

“I’m honored to have been chosen by my colleagues as the President of the Laketran Board of Trustees. I look forward to working with all of them collectively and engaging their professional expertise as we continue to examine the future of our agency. Public transit in Lake County faces numerous challenges on many fronts, but I am confident with the skill-set and professionalism exemplified by our current Board members, we will effectively weather these challenges and emerge a more efficient and productive transit system,” stated Malecek.

The nine-member board is appointed by the Lake County Commissioners. Dillard was appointed in August of 2001 and served as president from January 2007 through May 2009. Malecek was appointed to the board in May 2005 and served as vice-president since January 2007. Redmond was appointed in August 2002.
