Laketran and Lakeland are excited to introduce “Lakers GO,” a new way for students to access Laketran’s Local Routes 1-9. Lakers GO is a new digital bus pass that can be accessed through the EZfare app on any mobile device. The pass continues to allow Lakeland students to ride Laketran’s Local Routes 1-9, free of charge, to travel to campus, jobs, internships, activities, community resources and more.

Last year, Laketran provided 12,500 bus rides to Lakeland students and expects that number to grow now that pass can be conveniently accessed and stored on student’s smartphones.

“We’re not changing the service. We’re just improving how students will access it,” shared Laketran CEO Ben Capelle. “With our mobile fare payment app, we can now put bus passes right on students’ phones, so if you need a ride, it’s conveniently available to you.”

The student transit benefit program was first launched in early 2000 and in that time, Laketran has provided over 1 million trips on local bus routes to help students access class and training programs.

“We have appreciated our partnership with Laketran,” said Lakeland associate provost & dean of students Mario Petitti Jr. “The partnership has been vital for many students, opening doors to higher education. We are proud to continue this collaboration, making college more accessible to individuals in our community.”

Laketran will continue to allow students to swipe a valid student ID at the fare box each time they board through 2023 to verify eligibility. All students must transition to the new digital Lakers GO pass on EZfare by January 2024.

Laketran bus schedules are available on-campus at the Frank J. Polivka Transit Center, the admissions office, the library and the athletic and fitness center. Laketran also offers free Campus Loop service to get around campus.

Signing up for the Lakers GO Bus Pass:

• Download the EZfare app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Create an EZfare account using your Lakeland Community College email.
• Fill out the Lakers GO registration form, available on the Laketran website or by clicking HERE.
• A Lakers GO pass will be added to your EZfare account within 24 hours, during weekdays.
