Laketran is honored to announce that Matthew A. Maier, Director of Operations, has been named one of Mass Transit Magazine’s 2025 40 Under 40 honorees, a distinction that recognizes young leaders making significant contributions to the public transportation industry.

Under his direction, Laketran increased service hours by 62%, boosting ridership by nearly 30% over two years.  During his time at Laketran, the agency has introduced major innovations including real-time signage, mobile ticketing, same-day Dial-a-Ride, paratransit technology upgrades, and the addition of battery-electric buses. Beyond operations, Maier is actively involved in state and regional transit organizations and community leadership roles, further strengthening Laketran’s impact in the region.
