Vehicle Servicer

The Vehicle Servicer services and prepares Fixed-Route, Dial-a-Ride, Commuter, and Laketran-owned vehicles for the next day’s service.  These duties include but are not limited to exterior and interior coach cleaning, fueling, adding oil and coolant, washing, coordinating with Operations and Fleet Maintenance staff, and completing associated paperwork. 

Pay Grade 3, Step 1, $16.05 per hour to start.  This position require working second shift and Saturdays.   Benefits include 11 paid holidays, accrued vacation and sick time, uniforms, medical, vision, dental, life, disability.  Ohio Public Employees Retirement (OPERS), Ohio Deferred Comp Retirement. 

 A solid work record of reliable attendance and quality job performance is required.

Bus Mechanic Level 1 and 2 

Our Mechanics diagnose defects and perform repairs on Laketran’s 155 fleet vehicles including motor coaches, medium/heavy diesel, unleaded vans, propane vans, automobiles, and trucks.

Mechanic 1’s do mostly preventative maintenance work such as changing belts, pulleys, brake jobs, tire rotations, removing and replacing batteries, alternators, engine components, exhaust systems, fluid changes.

Mechanic 2’s diagnose defects and perform more complex repairs on engines, steering, suspension, HVAC, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring and components, air brake systems, air motors, air controls, compressors, 24-volt systems, air ride systems, vehicle computer systems, electronic fare collection equipment, wheelchair lifts, multiplex, cameras, electronic destination signs, and radios. 

Both positions require having your own tools.

These positions may require working off-shifts and Saturdays.   A solid work record of reliable attendance and quality job performance is required. ASE Transit Bus Certifications (H Series) earns you a higher hourly wage. Valid Ohio driver license required (CDL a plus) and you must be able to pass DOT physical and drug screen.  

Safety-Sensitive Position
This position is deemed “safety-sensitive” by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  Team members operating in this position must submit to random drug-testing throughout employment.

Dial-a-Ride Drivers — Hiring Soon!

We will soon be hiring drivers, please feel free to apply!  Laketran offers a very attractive starting wage of $16.05 per hour with significant raises every 6 months for 3 years.  

A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is not required. 

 Where else can you work part-time making this much money?

  • 6 weeks paid training
  • Paid vacation, paid sick time, uniforms provided, and cash shoe allowance
  • Public Employees Retirement Pension (a lifetime state pension in addition to Social Security!)

  • 3 or 4-day work week, 18-24 hours per week (no Sundays or overnight)

 6-hour shifts, 3 or 4 days per week, which could include Saturdays but no Sundays or overnight. Reliable, dependable attendance is an essential function of this job; commitment to the work schedule and near-perfect attendance is vital.
