Laketran offers a very attractive starting wage of $14.85 per hour with significant raises every 6 months for 3 years.  Where else can you work part-time making this much money?

  • 6 weeks paid training
  • Paid vacation, paid sick time, uniforms provided, and cash shoe allowance

 6-hour shifts, 4 days per week, which could include Saturdays but no Sundays or overnight. Reliable, dependable attendance is an essential function of this job; commitment to attendance is vital.

Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen, background check, and Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles license check are required. A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is not required. 

Safety-Sensitive Position
This position is deemed “safety-sensitive” by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).  Team members operating in this position must submit to random drug-testing throughout employment.

Hostler – Bus Detailer

The Hostler (Bus Detailer) works Second Shift 3:30–Midnight preparing buses for next-day service by cleaning the interior and exterior of Laketran’s fleet of motor coaches, Dial-a-Ride buses, and high-top vans.

This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is:

  • Detail-oriented — meticulous about their work and would rather focus on the details
  • Enjoys a fast pace — thrives in a “let’s get it done” team atmosphere
  • Independent – knows what to do, gets it done, and doesn’t need someone looking over their shoulder

Here are the essentials of the job:

  • Drives vehicles at the maintenance facility for refueling, cleaning, and repair
  • Cleans exterior of vehicle by automated bus wash machine; requires manual scrubbing where brushes do not reach, i.e. wheel rims, etc.
  • Cleans interior by manual washing, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming
  • Fuels vehicles, checks all fluid levels, and tops fluids off to the appropriate levels as needed
  • Empties fareboxes
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on bus wash equipment.
  • Keep equipment, wash bay, supply storage, and work areas clean at all times
  • Comply with all applicable government regulations, policies, and standards, as well as all company administrative policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Prompt, regular, reliable attendance is required
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing additional tasks and assignments as needed

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year experience cleaning, general maintenance, or general labor

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Ohio Driver License
  • Must pass Department of Transportation physical and regulated drug screen
