All of the discounted fare programs below are subsidized programs offered in partnership with local community agencies.
Lakeland Community College Students – Lakers GO
Lakeland Community College offers free transportation to students on Laketran’s Routes 1-9. Students can registered online for the Lakers GO program. To receive a Lakers GO bus pass, download the EZfare app and create an account. Once a Lakers GO registration is received an unlimited ride pass is added to the EZfare account. Laketran will continue to allow students to swipe a valid student ID at the fare box each time they board through 2023 to show student eligibility. All students must transition to the Laker GO pass on EZfare by January 2024. Bus schedules are available in Admissions, Library, and AFC. Laketran also offers free Campus Loop service to get around campus.
Lake Erie College Students – STORMGO
Lake Erie College students, faculty, and staff can register online to receive a STORMGO bus pass that offers unlimited rides for an entire semester. To receive your STORMGO bus pass, download the EZfare app and create an account. Laketran will add a STORMGO pass to your EZfare ticket wallet to ride for free.
High School GO programs
Many Lake County high schools offer a student transit benefit that provides free transportation to students on Laketran’s Routes 1-9. Students register through their school. Once students are enrolled, they must download and create an account on Laketran’s EZfare app. Students will be issued a digital ticket to scan each time they board to ride for no charge.
- Mentor High School offers Cardinal GO. Students must register with Mentor Public Schools using the parent portal to participate in the program.
- Harvey High School offers Raiders GO. Students must register by completing a Raiders Go registration form (English/ Spanish) and return it to the high school Hub.
- Wickliffe High School offers Blue Devils GO. Students must register with Wickliffe High School by completing this Blue Devils GO registration form and return it to the high school’s main office.
- iSTEM offers iSTEM GO to middle and high school students. Students can register using this iSTEM GO registration form.
- Willoughby-Eastlake Schools offer WE GO to high school students. Students can register using the WE GO registration form.
- Fairport Harbor High School offers Skippers GO. Students must register for the program by completing the Skippers GO registration form.
- Frederick Douglass High School offers Frederick Douglass GO. Students must register for the program by completing the Frederick Douglass GO registration form.
Lake County Veterans
Laketran, in partnership with the Lake County Veterans Service Commission and Lake County Commissioners, provides Lake County veterans with free Dial-a-Ride transportation to any medical or adult day care appointment and any VA location within Laketran’s service area. Veterans must register with Lake County Veterans Service Commission to be eligible for free medical transportation. Here is more information on Laketran’s Veterans Medical Transportation.
Going to Senior Centers or Lake County Volunteer Network assignments in Lake County
Dial-a-Ride transportation to any and from any Lake County Senior Center or Lake County Volunteer Network assignment is provided free of charge to all Lake County seniors (60 years or older). Dial-a-Ride trips are paid through the Lake County Senior Services Levy and will pay for a ride to and from the senior center. Volunteers must be approved through the Lake County Volunteer Network office prior to scheduling rides on Laketran. Seniors must show their Golden Buckeye card when boarding.
Seniors/Citizens with Disabilities in Perry Township (including North Perry Village and Perry Village)
Perry Township will pay the $2.50 in-county ($5.00 out of county/medical only) Dial-a-Ride fare for resident seniors/individuals with disabilities. No registration is required.
Seniors/Citizens with Disabilities in Willoughby
The City of Willoughby will pay $1 toward any in-county Dial-a-Ride fare for resident seniors/individuals with disabilities registered with the city. Seniors/individuals with disabilities are responsible for paying the remaining $1.50 in-county fare. The City of Willoughby will also pay up to $1 towards the fare for Laketran’s Cuyahoga County Medical Service. Seniors/individuals with disabilities are responsible for paying the remaining $4 of the fare.
To receive a discounted bus fare, Willoughby residents must register for a Laketran Transportation Card with the City of Willoughby at the Willoughby Senior Center located at 36939 Ridge Rd. The senior center is open Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:30. Call 440-951-2832 for more information.
Medicaid Recipients
If you are a Medicaid recipient, the cost of your transportation to some Medicaid-approved health care services may be covered by Medicaid. In these instances, the rider does not pay a fare.
